I said, “Because this other kid did it first.” She said, “ Well, if he had stuck his head into a fire would you have stuck your head into a fire, too?” "Just Like they like 'em" I overheard Mother and Aunt Eddie talking about what first grade teachers expected of children that were starting to school. The teachers said that they liked to expose new students to their own teaching techniques, because they might not approve the teaching techniques used at home. So, I told my Mom, “I’m just like they like 'em, I don’t know ‘nothin’.” |
