The Sears store in Roswell had a unique set up that provided the opportunity for children to talk to Santa Clause. Their creation had a “peep hole” that children could look through and, through the use of some type of optical illusion; it appeared as if Santa was sitting in his living room in a tiny little house. A phone was provided which allowed them to talk to Santa. I was shy and didn’t have the courage to talk to Santa but, Ronnie Merritt, who was more courageous, had no problem talking to Santa.
